What Is Bimvue?

Bimvue is an online IFC viewer and BIM model management platform designed for construction teams. It lets you upload IFC files up to 500 MB, view them as interactive 3D models in any web browser, and attach custom metadata to individual building elements — all without installing desktop BIM software.

Construction projects generate complex 3D models packed with data — element properties, spatial relationships, material specifications. But accessing this data typically requires specialized software and technical expertise, putting it out of reach for many team members. Bimvue makes this data accessible to everyone on the project.

How Does Bimvue Work?

1. Upload — Drag and drop your IFC file. Resumable chunked uploads handle files up to 500 MB reliably, even on slow connections.
2. Process — Bimvue automatically extracts geometry and metadata, converting IFC to an optimized, meshopt-compressed GLB ready for browser viewing. Processing typically takes 1-2 minutes.
3. View in 3D — Explore your model in any web browser. Orbit, pan, zoom, use section planes, and click any element to see its IFC properties.
4. Add custom data — Define project-specific attribute schemas (string, number, boolean, date, enum) and attach values to any element. Custom attributes are linked by IFC GlobalId and persist automatically across model version re-uploads.
5. Search and export — Filter elements by IFC type, storey, property values, or custom attributes. Export filtered data as CSV or JSON for reporting.
6. Collaborate — Share models with your team through role-based access control. Four roles (org admin, project manager, editor, viewer) ensure everyone gets exactly the access they need.
