Introducing Bimvue: BIM Model Management Made Simple
Today we're excited to introduce Bimvue, a new way to manage BIM models for construction teams.
The Problem
Managing BIM models in construction is harder than it should be. Models are locked in desktop software, shared via email or large file transfers, and enriching them with project-specific data requires expensive tools and technical expertise.
Field teams — the people who actually build what's been designed — often have the least access to model data. They get static PDFs or disconnected spreadsheets while the 3D model sits on someone's workstation back in the office.
Our Solution
Bimvue is a web-based platform that lets construction teams upload IFC files, explore 3D models in the browser, and attach custom metadata to any building element. No plugins, no desktop software, no file size headaches.
Upload & Process
Upload IFC files up to 500MB with resumable chunked uploads — your upload picks up where it left off if the connection drops. Bimvue automatically extracts geometry, element properties, and spatial structure, producing an optimized 3D model ready for browser viewing.
View in 3D
Explore your models directly in the browser with a full-featured 3D viewer. Orbit, pan, and zoom. Click any element to select it and view its properties. Use section planes to cut through the model. Isolate individual elements for closer inspection. All running smoothly even on large models with hundreds of thousands of elements.
Custom Attributes
This is where Bimvue really shines. Define project-specific attribute schemas — things like installation status, inspection results, material substitutions, or any custom field your workflow requires. Then tag any element in the model with these attributes.
The key insight: custom attributes are linked to elements by their IFC GlobalId, not by model version. When you upload a new version of your model, all your custom data carries over automatically. No re-entry, no data loss.
Search & Export
Filter elements by type, location, property values, or custom attributes. Export your filtered data as CSV or JSON for reporting, analysis, or integration with other tools.
Built for Teams
Bimvue includes role-based access control out of the box. Organization admins manage users and billing. Project managers upload models and define attribute schemas. Editors tag elements with data. Viewers can explore models and export data but can't modify anything. Every team member gets exactly the access they need.
What's Next
We're starting with IFC — the open standard for BIM data — because we believe in open, interoperable workflows. Coming soon: direct Revit (.rvt) file upload, model version comparison, bulk attribute editing, measurement tools, and more.
